Millie's experience with a Full-Body MRI: Testing Elevate’s Comprehensive Proactive Health Offering
As the Head of Growth at Elevate, I have the privilege of working on a product that is poised to transform the way people approach their health. In January 2025, we’re officially launching Elevate’s proactive healthcare membership, and one of its cornerstone components is the AI-enabled full-body MRI—an unparalleled diagnostic tool designed to provide insights into over 500 potential conditions. To fully understand and experience what our members will go through, I decided to test the product myself. Here’s how it went.
The Process: From Referral to Results
The journey started the way it does for all our members: with a consultation with one of our dedicated doctors. During the virtual call, the doctor asked me a series of detailed questions to ensure the scan was appropriate and safe for me. This step reinforced one of Elevate’s key principles—putting safety and clinical appropriateness first.
Once I was cleared for the scan, the team quickly arranged an appointment at a convenient location in central London, just a stone’s throw from Green Park Tube Station. Within days, I was booked in and ready to go, all coordinated by the Elevate team.
The Day of the Scan
When I arrived at the clinic, I was immediately struck by how professional and polite the team was. After checking in, I completed another set of medical questions on an iPad—thorough, yet efficient. It was clear that every detail mattered, which gave me confidence in the process.
Next, I met the radiologists who would conduct the scan. They were warm, professional, and explained exactly what to expect, emphasising a couple of key points. First, they warned me about how noisy the test would be and how long it would take. Second, they noted that some people find the experience claustrophobic and assured me that they had safeguards in place to make me feel comfortable.
For example, they handed me a button to hold in my left hand throughout the test. If at any point I felt overwhelmed or needed a break, I could press the button, no questions asked. While I’m fortunate not to struggle with claustrophobia, knowing I had that option was incredibly reassuring.
The Scan Experience
After changing into a surprisingly chic gown (a detail I appreciated!), it was time for the scan. The radiologists offered to play my choice of music via Spotify, a thoughtful touch that made the experience feel more personal.
The MRI itself was long—two full hours. Staying completely still for that length of time was a challenge, and despite my best efforts, I unknowingly moved a few times, requiring the radiologists to redo certain tests. They were incredibly kind about it, reassuring me that this was completely normal.
To limit movement, I was guided through a series of breathing exercises during the scan. I decided to treat these like a meditation session, focusing on my breath and the calming rhythm of my chosen playlist. Even so, I felt relief when the scan was over. I was a bit cramped from being so still and welcomed the chance to sit up and walk around.
One of the coolest moments of the experience came after the scan. The radiologists showed me some of my own scans—the incredible clarity and detail left me in awe. I could see cross-sections of my body, from head to toe, with every organ, bone, and tissue vividly displayed. Knowing that this level of detail will soon be available to all our members through the Elevate app made me even more excited about our launch. Imagine having this powerful insight at your fingertips, empowering you to truly understand your health.
The Results: Insight and Peace of Mind
True to Elevate’s promise, I received my results within two business days. The scan results were reviewed by both AI technology and a team of highly skilled doctors, ensuring unparalleled accuracy and depth of analysis.
Even though I’m generally healthy and wasn’t presenting with symptoms, the sheer comprehensiveness of the test—covering over 500 potential conditions—left me wondering if something sinister might be uncovered. During my follow-up call with one of our dedicated doctors, I was relieved to learn that the MRI didn’t show any serious health concerns.
However, the scan did flag a long-standing sports injury that I had been neglecting for years. The doctor discussed treatment options with me, and this has motivated me to finally address it in the new year.
Why This Matters
Experiencing the full-body MRI firsthand has given me an even deeper appreciation for what we’re offering at Elevate. This isn’t just a diagnostic test—it’s a revolutionary health tool that combines the power of AI-driven insights with the expertise of dedicated doctors to provide our members with a proactive path to well-being.
The ability to view your own scans and all other test results and recommendations in the Elevate app, understand your health risks, and discuss the results with a dedicated doctor makes this offering truly unique. This test isn’t just about detecting potential issues; it’s about providing peace of mind and giving our members the tools to take charge of their health.
For me, it was a chance to see our product in action—a product designed to empower people with insights that lead to early detection and prevention. And while the MRI is just one part of our comprehensive program, it embodies everything Elevate stands for: precision, innovation, and care.
I’m proud to be part of a team bringing this revolutionary approach to healthcare to market, and I can’t wait for our members to experience it for themselves.
